Carter Jenkins

Carter has a deep history and connection to wildwood green. From joining as a member at age 10, being newly introduced to the world of golf, to now 20 years later and having turned the game into a career.

Carter was born and raised in Raleigh, NC and over the years playing and developing as a player Wildwood has always been home. It was there that he was able to grow as a golfer but also as a person and progress up the ranks of the world of competitive golf from Junior golf to high level Junior/Amateur and Collegiate golf at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to then taking that platform of skills and competing for the last 10 (2016-2025) years as a professional on The Mackenzie Tour/PGA Tour Canada and the Korn Ferry Tour. Along with participating in a few PGA Tour events, including the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst no. 2. During his 20 years of competitive golf he amassed several worthy accomplishments, most notably three consecutive Carolinas Amateur Championships from 2013-2015.

During his tenure as a touring professional he compiled 10 top tens in 50 starts on PGA Tour Canada, including a solo second finish at the Dakota Dunes Championship in Saskatoon, SA and 11 top ten finishes in 70 events on the Korn Ferry Tour, including 2 second place finishes at the Simmons Bank Open in Nashville, TN and The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship in Columbus, OH. Carter now wants nothing more than to take the knowledge and perspective he has gathered from his 20 years in the game and his 10 years as a touring professional and share that with his students as he works to complete his PGM degree with the PGA of America.

Goals:

Carter’s goals as a teaching instructor are to help his students be well rounded golfers and understand that golf is a challenging game. That challenge should be embraced by all through his teaching of perspectives he’s learned over the years that there is only so much within the players control in any given situation. There is no such thing as perfection in the game of golf. He also has the goal of teaching his students how the little things, the “simple things” can make all the difference in the efficiency and consistency of a player.

Ultimately Carter’s main goal as an instructor is to impart the knowledge he’s gathered piece by piece over the years that allowed him to play the game with such passion and joy to his students so that they can have the same passion and joy when they step out onto the course.

Teaching Philosophy:

Carter plans to implement a simple teaching philosophy with his students that centers around the simple principles of the game to build a reliable foundation for each and everyone of his students. He also wants to understand each and everyone of his students, he has never believed in a one size fits all approach to the game of golf. Every individual is just that, individual. Therefore getting to know the student the way they think about the game of golf, the way that they learn and retain information most efficiently and what their own goals and aspirations in the game are are very important in giving them the best quality instruction possible to allow them to be successful.

He was taught his entire life under PGA Master Instructor Ed Ibarguen and learned from Ed that the best course of action in any given lesson is listening to the student, identifying the one key aspect that needs improving and keeping it simple. Carter plans to approach his own instruction very much the same. Golf is complicated and it is his desire to make understanding your own game as simple and efficient as possible.
